There will be no Creston auction on Saturday, September 6. There will, however, be an auction at Creston on Friday evening September 19th.

W. Va. Attorney General Patrick Morrisy will hold public meetings in Calhoun & Wirt County on Thursday, September 4. The Calhoun meeting will be at noon at the senior citizen building in Grantsville and the Wirt meeting will be at 5 P. M. at the Dora Bee Woodyard library in Elizabeth. There will never be a better chance to talk with someone who will listen to problems concerning less than reputable dealings by those in a position of power, etc. All are invited to attend.

Harold & Rick Headley were visiting area relatives and friends. Harold is a native of Little Creek & a sister of Bessie Arthur.

The Annamoriah Cowpoke and wife were visiting his mother and attended the Kerby reunion. They & nephew Steve were visiting brother Bob at the Miletree Center in Spencer & while there called on Euell Russell.

The Cowpoke noted that both he and the wife lost their insurance because of Obamacare and are now subject to fines starting at 10% of their salaries and wages. He also noted that their U. S. Senator who was a big promoter of the socialized medicine scheme is very unpopular and recently got some fresh broken eggs in her fancy hairdo.

As part of the fundamental transformation of America, a federal judge has now ruled that polygamy is now legal. Likely marrying animals will be next.

Nancy Engelke was consulting her endrocrinologist and received a good report.

Charles Russell was visiting Dr. Balasubramony and was attending to business in Brooksville. Charles was found to be fit as a fiddle.

David McKain, age 80, of Parkersburg passed away after a fight with cancer. He established the park in Burning Springs at the site of the Rathbone well which is one of the wells in present day West Virginia that predate the supposed first well in Pennsylvania. He was also involved in the Oil & Gas Museum in Parkersburg and the Henderson Hall facility near Williamstown and was a writer of history books setting forth the facts of the history of the area.

The State of Oklahoma threw out "Common Core" and now the Big Eared One's federal educrats are going to "punish the state" for being uppity and doing the right thing. Of course that proves that it is a federal takeover no doubt orchestrated by domestic terrorist Bill Ayers, a friend of dear leader and a supposed education "expert".

Charles Russell was calling on Mr. & Mrs. Parris Parsons, Ray Gumm and brother Euell at Miletree in Spencer.

Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church.

A number of local residents attended the Ground Hog homecoming at the church situate high on the hill at the head of Pete's Run, named after Revolutionary war soldier Peter McCune.

A fellow was calling locally and noted that the big hedge funds (those folks who attend the $32,000/plate fundraisers with the Big Eared One) wine and dine the group that manages the state retirement money. He also noted that some of the folks down at the Mouth of the Elk end up with Rolex watches, etc.

Russia has invaded Ukraine and is threatening other neighbors, America's southern border is being overrun, China is getting evermore warlike and is building a formidable blue water navy, Hamas is digging new tunnels to attack Israel, ISIS sold girls and women into slavery, beheaded an American journalist, shot hundreds of captured Syrian soldiers and said they would put their flag on the White House. Meantimes John Kerry (Jon Cary) the guy who, along with Jane Fondu aided the enemy in Viet Nam, said that "global warming" is the worst thing we have to worry about.

However, recently it was reported that the north pole ice cap has increased 43% since 2012. The increased ice cover is the size of the state of Alaska. When Al Gore [who invented the internet and was the source of the Love Story show, so it was claimed] said when he got his NoBull Piece prize in 2007 that by 2014 the Artic Ocean would be "ice free".

According to reports, [as best they can be interpreted] Cabot's Utica well on Larkmead in Wood County tapped into the oil window of the Utica.

The local area continues to have rain showers which has brought second & third cutting hay harvest to a standstill.

The state chamber of commerce had a big meeting down at Jimmy Justice's Greenbrier resort. The big topic there was Marcellus shale and what it would do for the state's economy now that the Big Eared One and his little helpers [including some from West Virginia] killed the coal business and gambling, which was said to make as all rich, is not doing so well. Exxon, the Rockefeller flagship company, was there and pointed out for things to go best there must be forced pooling [now called fair pooling] in West Virginia.

This must be done to keep royalties and tax collections low so the money can go out of state & nation. It should be noted that the Rockefellers kept royalties to a bare minimum a century ago when the first big gas boom hit West Virginia. The best well in Roane County was the Big Abbott which required an eight inch pipeline to take the gas from a Big Injun well. The Abbott family received the vast sum of $50.00 annually as royalty. With some "well lubricated legislators" they intend to do the same thing again.

The price of gasoline in the Parkersburg area is in the $3.28 - $3.35 range but elsewhere in the state the price is 20 to 30 cents higher. The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude is $94.96 with drip (mountain high test) fetching $73.46, Marcellus & Utica light $88.96 and medium $94.96/bbl.

Local residents have been watching some nice bucks, some of which are still in the velvet. The other day traffic on W. Va. 5 came to a halt as a flock of wild turkeys took their time making a crossing. There seems to be lots of mast this season.

There continues to be talk about a special session of the legislature to deal with the problem of Sen. Unger's absurd "tank law". The green weenies say it is a wonderful thing but it would seem none of them has come up with a realistic way to comply with the requirements, costs, annual fees, etc.
