Mary Jean Heater, 79 - Burnsville

Mary Jean Heater age 79 of Burnsville, West Virginia, departed this life Friday evening, August 29, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born June 8, 1935 in Long Shoal, West Virginia, daughter of the late Alton and Jessie Mae Cosner Carson.

Mary was a loving mother, housewife, and homemaker. She loved quilting, gardening, and spending time with her loving family. Mary was a Methodist by faith and attended the Stouts Chapel on Hyers Run. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalms and she was also a member of the quilting club known as the "Country Quilters" and a member of the "Gem Homemakers Club".

On January 1, 1955 she was united in marriage to Roy Heater who preceded her in death on May 21, 2004.

Surviving are 6 children, Roy Junior Heater of Falls Mills, West Virginia, Johnie Heater and wife Kimberly of Baldwin, West Virginia, Charlene Messenger and husband Michael of Linn, West Virginia, Donald Heater and wife Bessie of Burnsville, WV, Connie White of Burnsville, WV, and James Heater of Philo, Ohio.

There are 9 siblings, Ray Carson and wife Ruby of Long Shoal, WV, Glen Carson and wife Linda of Tioga, West Virginia, Carl Carson of Little Birch, West Virginia, John Sherman Carson and wife Betty of Buckhannon, West Virginia, Ralph Carson and wife Ruth of Long Shoal, WV, Viola Mae Nicholson of Burnsville, WV, Freeda Perrine of Burnsville, WV, Joyce Moore and husband David of Cheshire, Ohio, and Carol Robinson and husband Larry of Morehead, Kentucky. There are also several grandchildren and great grandchildren surviving.

Along with her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by 1 great grandson, Walter Robert Given; 1 daughter-in-law, Sandra Cayton Heater; and 1 brother, Russell Carson.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc, 2 Vanhorn Drive Glenville WV 26351 at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 2, 2014 with Rev. Ronzel Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Canfield Cemetery on Sliding Run Road. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Monday September 1 at the mortuary.
