Garold Glenn (Jerry) Simons Jr., 58 - Parkersburg

Garold Glenn (Jerry) Simons Jr., 58, of Parkersburg, formerly of Spencer, WV died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 5, 2014, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was the son of the late Garold Simons Sr. and Betty Armstead Simons Pullen.

Jerry was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and a great friend to many. He enjoyed having family and friends gather together to cheer on his Mountaineers, as he was the most devoted fan.

He also enjoyed the warmth of the beach, the company of friends, and just sitting around telling stories and jokes.

He was a 1974 graduate of Spencer High School. Through the years, he was employed by Spencer State Hospital and Norris Industries in Spencer as well as Ames and Workforce WV in Parkersburg.

He is survived by his wife Treva, daughter Lydia (Rusty) Hogue, step daughter Cierra (Austin) Young, and step granddaughter Peyton; Brother Tom (Kay) Simons of Gassaway, sisters, Vicki Stalnaker and Tammy (Rodney) Jones of Parkersburg, and Terry Carter of Ravenswood. 7 nieces, 2 nephews, and many great nieces and nephews. Several stepbrothers and stepsisters, all truly loved as family.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Justin S. Simmons officiating.

Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer.

Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
