GLENVILLE, WV- The Glenville State College Bluegrass Band was recently showcased in the July 2014 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine. This nearly 50 year old publication circulates across the nation and is dedicated to preserving the culture and instilling traditions of the music.

The three page article, written by reporter Lee Cable, focused on how Glenville State College became the first institution in the world to offer a Bachelor's Degree in Bluegrass and Traditional Music. The article also followed students throughout their 2013 annual fall concert.

"BU is perhaps one of the best means of communication, publicity, and promotion in professional bluegrass music. I am glad that Lee was able to attend our annual fall concert last year, and was willing to share his point of view with other bluegrass musicians and supporters. This article reaches bluegrass lovers nationwide, and I am very proud of our reputation. The Glenville State College Bluegrass Band strives to keep the music traditional by performing around the United States," said GSC Bluegrass Program Director Megan Darby.

Be sure to mark your calendar for the upcoming bluegrass concert which is scheduled during Homecoming Day 2014 on Saturday, October 11th at 7:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. This year's concert will feature Bobby Osborne and the Rocky Top X-Press as guest performers.

Traditional music fans will know Osborne and his band from his sixty-plus years in the industry, performances at the Grand Ole Opry, and hit songs like 'Rocky Top,' 'Ruby,' and 'I've Seen it All.' The October 2014 concert with Bobby Osborne and the GSC Bluegrass Band promises to be a show that you won't want to miss.
