Donna Jean Sturm Starcher - Dover, DE

Donna Jean Sturm Starcher died on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Courtland Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Belington, W.Va., the daughter of the late H. Hugh and A. Opal Sturm.

She attended college in Akron, Ohio and later graduated from Delaware State University. She worked for almost 20 years for the Department of Public Instruction.

Donna enjoyed reading, walking, bicycling and playing tennis, golf, and bridge.

She is survived by a sister, F. Ruth (Sturm) Coontz of Belington, W.Va.; daughter, Sandra Starcher Olenik-Dawson and her husband, George W. Dawson, of Dover; son, William Lee Starcher, Jr. and his wife, Cynthia (McHenry); grandson, William Lee Starcher, III of, Hockessin; granddaughter, Allison Rebecca (Olenik) and her husband, Robert Smeltzer of Elkton, Md.; and nephews, Randal and Rodney Coontz of W.Va., and Bill Nicholas, of Texas; and nieces, Mary (Nicholas) Studer and Linda (Nicholas) Hutchins of Texas, and their families.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an older sister, Florabell (Sturm) and her husband, Bill Nicholas, formerly of El Paso, Texas.

Funeral services will were conducted at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on Old North Road in Camden, DE on Friday, Aug. 8, 2014 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the caring staff and administrators at Courtland Manor Nursing Home in Dover.
