Juanita C. Shafer, 77 - Walton

Juanita C. Shafer, 77, of Walton, West Virginia, died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at home, after a short illness.

She was born February 23, 1937 at Minnora, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Ermine Ray Siers and the late Mildred Mae White Siers Dunham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Charles M. Shafer; two brothers, Dwayne Siers and Edsel Siers; one half-brother, Billy Dean "Butch" Siers.

Mrs. Shafer was a faithful Christian and a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, Cleveland, Ohio. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and wonderful friend to all who knew her. She was a 1955 graduate of Calhoun County High School.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Carol D. and Doug Proctor of Walton; two sons and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Wanda Shafer of Walton and Jerry R. Shafer of Elkview; seven grandchildren, D. Lynn Proctor (Jonathan Kizer) of Gandeeville, Jason D. Proctor of Walton, Jerry Shafer, Jr. (Jay) of Elkview, Jennifer Shafer of Walton, Amanda Taylor (Jeff Taylor) of Clendenin, Jamie Rolfes of Spencer and Shane Shafer of Elkview; 10 great grandchildren, Katheryn "Kadee" Kizer, Kara Lynn Kizer, Tiffany Proctor, Austin Proctor, Mason Proctor, Chloe Shafer, Peyton Kizer, Jarred Taylor, Payton Shafer and Kaleb Taylor; adopted grandson, Dale Locklear; two sisters, Jean Ann Wilson of Fayetteville and Sharon Radabaugh of St. Clairsville, OH; four brothers, Kenneth Siers of Grantsville, Eugene Siers of Wilmington, NC, Dennis Siers of Maumee, OH and Gail Siers of Elizabeth; four half-sisters, Rebecca Whitlock, Linda Peck, Barbara Siers and Shirley Allen.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Gary DiToto officiating. Burial will be in the Canterbury-Droddy Cemetery, Walton. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
