WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Huntington Releasing "Unmitigated Hell," Roommate Shot Over Female Problems

(08/01/2014)
MAYOR ANGRY - Huntington Mayor Steve Williams is on a mission, saying he wants "unmitigated hell" released on drug crimes in the city, asking for 10 more neighborhood tactical officers.

"(We're) sending a message very clearly to these drug pushers that unmitigated hell is going to come down upon them. If they're looking to do business, either they leave Huntington or they stay and we're going to be stopping them, arresting them and putting them in prison," said the mayor.

For years the city has been dealing with the Detroit to Huntington drug trade, leading to violent gun and knife crimes.

MERCER SHOOTING - A Mercer County man shot his roommate Thursday morning, according to an official with the Mercer County Sheriff's Department.

Police charged John Smith, 23, of Montcalm, with malicious wounding and attempt to commit a felony, after they say he shot Eric Ernest, 31, at their residence in Montcalm.

Smith allegedly shot Ernest after an altercation broke out between Ernest and two females. Two couples live in the residence, the official said.

Ernest was taken to the hospital, but the extent of his injuries were unknown Thursday evening.

Smith was being held on $100,000 bail at Southern Regional Jail.
