Trying to stir some voter interest in an off year election, the Calhoun County Democratic Executive Committee had a "Meet the Candidate" dinner at the West Fork Park at Arnoldsburg Saturday evening.

A dinner was served with candidates, local elected officials and the public visiting throughout the evening.

Democratic Chairperson Margie Evans said "We are hopeful more people will register as Democrats this year." She said, more importantly, is the need to go to the polls.

The Democrats will open a headquarters this week on Main Street in Grantsville.

"We believe in the basic principles of the Democrat party and hope voters will take time to look at the platforms of candidates," concluded Evans.
