METZ PLEADS NOT GUILTY IN DECADES OLD DOUBLE MURDER - Lewis County Women Vanished In 1999

In 1999, two Lewis County women Mary Friend, 46, and Maxine Stalnaker, 69, left a house in a car, never to be seen again. Authorities searched for the women relentlessly for nearly a year, that search extending into Calhoun County. A Lewis County man indicted in the death of his mother and grandmother pleaded not guilty in court Friday. Attorneys for Joseph Metz, 39, filed a motion to dismiss the case citing a defect in the case.< David Hughes, originally charged in the case, entered into a plea agreement for conspiracy to commit robbery in exchange for his testimony against Metz.
