UPDATE: CALHOUN ELECTRIC OUTAGE - 240 Outages AM Thursday, Cooling Station In Grantsville

12 NOON WEDNESDAY - About 240 customers in Calhoun are still without power from a wind storm, with about 77 lines broken, according to 911/OES Director Kathy Wood.

Most of the AM outages are in the greater Grantsville area, with a cooling station set up the Little Courtroom of the courthouse, today from 11-4 and Friday from 10-4, with temperatures expected to approach 90 degrees.

The breaks that are being worked on today are mostly in wooded areas, workers reaching them by foot.

At this time, it is expected the majority of Mon Power customers will be restored by 11:00 PM Friday. ORIGINAL STORY - A number of Calhoun electric customers were still without service Wednesday evening following a storm Tuesday.

Customers Wednesday evening in the greater Hur area and the Big Bend and Grantsville area said they did not have electric.

First Energy's web site at 11 p.m. indicated virtually all service had been restored. However some local customers say they have been advised that it may be Friday before their service is restored.

About 24 hours after the wind storm swept across parts of the Mountain State, 32,513 residents were still reporting power outages.

Spokesperson Todd Meyers said it could take "several days" to restore power to those who live in more remote areas.

The National Weather Service confirmed a brief tornado touchdown in southern Monongalia County.
