CALHOUN CIRCUIT COURT ACTS ON LOADED DOCKET

Calhoun Circuit Court had a loaded docket this week in Grantsville, with Judge Thomas Evans III presiding.

Judge Evans ordered that Isaac Bell, related to drug charges, must complete a sixty day diagnostic evaluation in the custody of the Department of Corrections. He will return to court for sentencing upon completion of the evaluation.

Cindy McCune and Dennis McCune appeared on the state's motion to revoke their bond for failing drug screens and for failing to appear for drug screen.

The Court revoked their bond and they were remanded to the custody of Central Regional Jail. They are charged with operating a clandestine methamphetamine drug laboratory, according to Prosecutor Shannon Johnson.

Charles Bell was sentenced to three years probation for conspiracy to operate a clandestine methamphetamine drug lab.

Prosecutor Johnson said James Blankenship was sentenced to one to three years in the state penitentiary for fleeing while DUI and fined one thousand dollars.

Blankenship was also sentenced to six months in jail for DUI, 1st offense and fined $100.

Further, he was sentenced to ninety days in jail for driving on a suspended license and fined $150. All sentences are to be served consecutively.

Gary Farrell appeared for a status hearing on multiple-charges. This matter was set for another status hearing in September.

Richard Conley, Krista Farrell, and Michael Duncan were in court for a pre-trial hearing. The court will hear a motion to revoke Michael Duncan's bond on July 1st, with a jury trial in the matter.

Jason Conrad also appeared with Richard Conley for a pretrial hearing, related to drug charges. The case is set for a jury trial on July 1.

Johnny Cash appeared for pre-trial hearing. Cash withdrew his request for a jury trial on his charge of terroristic threats. His case involving operation of a cladestine methamphetamine drug laboratory is set for July 1.

Doug Lynch and Nicolas Davis appeared for a pre-trial hearing related to large-scale cultivation of marijuana. Mr. Davis' attorney moved to continue the case until the next term of court. The court will rule on the motion on July 1.

Zebediah Hamrick charged with operating a meth lab, appeared on a bench warrant after his arrest. Authorities had been looking for Hamrick for several weeks. He was remanded to the custody of Central Regional Jail to appear for jury trial on July 1.

Clarke Patterson appeared for a pre-trial hearing related to sexual abuse. His attorney moved the court to order a competency evaluation for Patterson. The court ordered that the evaluation be completed and set this matter for August 11 for a status hearing, according to prosecutor Johnson.

William Cottrell and Mark Harris appeared for a pre-trial hearing. Mr. Cottrell's attorney announced that the parties had reached a plea agreement and this court set a hearing for July 1 for entry on the plea. Mr. Harris's case will come on for jury trial on July 1.

Donald Drake, Christopher Ferrell, David Jones, Scotty Knight, and Christina Wilson appeared for a pre-trial hearing. Knight announced he had accepted a plea offer from the state. The court will enter the plea on July 1 at which time the court will bring the other cases on for trial.

Further, there is a motion to dismiss the charges against David Jones, which will be heard at that time.

William Dunbar, facing sexual abuse charges, appeared for a pre-trial hearing. His attorney moved the court to order a competency evaluation for the defendant. The court ordered that the evaluation be completed and set this matter for August 11 for a status hearing.

Monday's court had 24 juvenile hearings.
