Betty Lou Hardman Ross, 89, of Richmond, Virginia

Betty Lou Hardman Ross, 89, of Richmond, Virginia, June 11, 2014, at her residence.

She was born at Grantsville, the youngest daughter of the late Frederick Clark and Bessie Gay Hardman.

She graduated from Calhoun County High School and Charleston School of Commerce. After substitute teaching for Waynesboro, Va., public schools, the family moved to Richmond, Va., in 1971, and she worked as a non-foods manager at Ukrop's until retiring in 1986. She was a member of Bethany Place Baptist Church, Richmond.

Surviving are two sons, John F. Ross and Brian A. Ross, both of Richmond; two daughters, Nancy R. Boyd and husband Randy of Richmond and Ellen H. Ross of Waynesboro, Va.; eight grand-children; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. "J.D." Ross, Jr.; one son, Daniel B. Ross; and one grandson, John A. Ross.

Services were held in Waynesboro, Virginia.
