Barbara Franklin Cottrill, 73 - Glenville

Barbara Franklin Cottrill, 73, of 6557 WV Hwy 5 East of Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in Charleston, West Virginia following a brief illness.

Born September 3, 1940 in Braxton County, daughter of the late Stanley Noal and Mamie J. Searfass Johnson.

Barbara was Catholic by faith, and worked as a church secretary and berry farmer. She enjoyed playing tennis, reading all the time, and watching medical mysteries on TV.

On July 7, 2012 she was united in marriage to Frank Cottrill, who survives at their Route 5 home.

Surviving are 1 son, Dr. Stan Franklin of Calgary, Canada; 1 daughter, Debbie Clark-Todd of Charleston, WV; 3 grandchildren, Dr. Chris Clark of California, Blake Franklin of Calgary, Canada, and Ashley Franklin of Ft. Collins, Colorado. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Eldon Johnson of Fairmont, WV, and David Johnson of Texas.

Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sam and Ed Johnson.

Barbara's request for cremation has been honored and a celebration of life will be conducted at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, 624 Kanawha St, Gassaway, WV 26624, on June 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Mateus Ro officiating.

Ellyson Mortuary Inc. is assisting the family.
