Christine L. "Chris" Cox, 59 - Spencer

Christine L. "Chris" Cox, 59, of Spencer, died Thursday, June 12, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born September 5, 1954, at Spencer, a daughter of Leonard Newton Miller, and the late Mary Inez Greenlee.

She was an employee of Roane General Hospital and a Christian. Chris was also a former leader for both Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, and was active with 4-H. Chris also loved the outdoors and her animals. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard D. Cox.

She is survived by her children, Christopher D. Cox, and Katie Beth Cox; father, Leonard "Newt" Miller; brothers, Leonard N. Miller, and Thomas E. Miller; sister Charlotte A. Pettry, all of Spencer. She is also survived by sisters, Trina L. Cross of Ravenswood, and Pam J. Mace of Sandridge.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Pastor Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Reedy. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Katie's education fund c/o Drew Patton, 210 Court Street, Spencer, WV 25276.
