Kindergarteners at Little Birch Elementary School in Braxton County, had visitors from the Elk River Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, on Monday, June 2.

Lillie Robinson, Flag Chairman, and Ruth Ruth Ellen Mooney, Regent, shared with the children information about the flag, including the holidays when the American flag is flown, such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day and a special day in June, often forgotten. June 14th is known as Flag Day and an important day to show honor to the American flag.

The children also discussed good manners in respecting the flag and the proper way to salute. At the conclusion, the children recited the Pledge of Allegiance and each child received a certificate and a booklet about the flag.
