Ronald Dean Brannon, 75 - South Amherst OH

Ronald Dean Brannon, age 75, of South Amherst, OH, entered eternal rest on Saturday May 31, 2014 at Welcome Nursing Home in Oberlin, OH following a long illness.

Dean was born on February 1, 1939 in Withers WV and was a resident of South Amherst after moving from Grafton WV area. He attended the Middle Run School and the Eliam Baptist Church in Gilmer County, WV.

Dean loved sharing time with family and friends and as a young man often traveled between Ohio and West Virginia.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was an accomplished fisherman. Fishing was his greatest pastime when he wasn't enjoying other sports. He was an avid fan and a team sports enthusiast. He enjoyed motor sports as well which included NASCAR and tractor pulling.

His hobbies included working puzzles and reading western novels. He liked attending local fairs and festivals.

Survivors include his sisters Karen D. Arcaba and her husband Chet of South Amherst OH, Debra L. Harrison of Fredericktown, OH; his brother Rickie L. Brannon and his wife Wilma of Parkersburg WV; many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Harry L. Brannon and Ruby G. Conrad (nee Godfrey); stepfather James R. Conrad; brother Roger A. Brannon; and sister Sharon L. Brannon.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Welcome Nursing Home for the exemplary care they provided to Dean and his family.

Funeral services will be held Friday June 6, 2014, 3:00 pm at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville WV. Burial will follow in the Turner-Union Cemetery in Lockney. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1:00-3:00 pm prior to the services.
