Betty Jean Gibson, 79 - Spencer

Betty Jean Gibson, 79 of Spencer WV passed on to be with her savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 in Sea Level NC.

Betty was born Dec. 15th, 1935 in Wyoming County WV to the late Hugo and Wanda Schuman of Tyler Mt, WV. She was married to the late Vernon Gibson of Spencer and together they raised 5 children. Betty was a dedicated Christian since she was 6 years old and serving the Lord was her passion in life.

Betty is survived by her sons Jerry Gibson of Clover Ridge and David Gibson and wife Nancy of Looneyville; daughter Janice Gibson Long and husband Paul Long of Bridgeton NC; son Bryan Gibson and wife Stephanie of Spencer; a granddaughter Tabitha Gibson who Betty thought of as her own daughter, of Raleigh NC. She is also survived by her only brother John Wayne Schuman and his wife Isabelle of Cross Lanes WV. Betty left behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Hugo and Wanda Schuman, her husband Mr. Vernon Gibson of Spencer, her beloved son Vernon "Sug" Gibson of Spencer and twin sons, Danny and Dale Gibson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with her brother, Rev. John Schuman officiating. Burial will follow in the Gibson Family Cemetery in Bomont WV. Visiting will be one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
