Willard C. Turner, 78 - Normantown

Willard C. Turner age 78, of Barbecue Road, Normantown, West Virginia, departed this life in the early morning hours of Monday, May 19, 2014 at his residence with his family at his side.

Born October 19, 1935 in Gilmer County, son of the late Ezra and Nettie Cogar Turner.

Willard was a graduate of Normantown High School, class of 1954, a veteran of the United States Navy, and he retired from DuPont in 1993 with 35 years of service. Willard was an avid golfer and hunter, a ham radio operator, private pilot, and attended the Glenville Christian Chapel.

On August 18, 1967, he was united in marriage to Marguerite Moats, who survives at their Normantown home.

Also surviving are 3 children, Mary Latore and husband Richard of New Matamoras, Ohio, Stephanie Williams and husband Wes of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, and Tony Turner and wife Kimmary of Cumming, Georgia; 3 sisters, Edith Vanoy, Ethel Tanner, and Wanda Duelley; 2 brothers, Leamon Turner and Eugene Turner and wife Betty; and 2 grandchildren, Ryan and Ross Williams of San Diego, California.

Along with his parents Willard was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Lillian Harris, Goldie Stevens; and 1 brother Rymer Turner.

At his request Willard was cremated and a celebration of life will be held at the Gilmer County Senior Center on Sunday May 25, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with his nephew David Turner and Pastor Jim Huff officiating. Food and fellowship will follow also at the Senior Center.

Expressions of sympathy may be sent directly to the family at 1924 Barbecue Road, Normantown, WV, 25267. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Burnsville, P.O. Box 323, Burnsville, WV, 26335.
