Marjorie "Margie" Ann Starcher, 42 - Spencer

Marjorie "Margie" Ann Starcher, 42, of Spencer, WV, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2014 at CAMC in Charleston, WV after a long, courageous battle with ALS also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. She was surrounded by family and loved ones.

She was born September 18, 1971 at Roane General Hospital to Kenneth and Melba Dye Starcher. In addition to her parents she is survived by her brother, Will Andrew Starcher of Huntington, WV, and a best friend, Sarah Wilfong and her daughters, Emily and Elisabeth, of Bartow, WV.

Margie was a 1989 graduate of Spencer High School, and earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Marshall University in 1993. She was employed by Keith Chrihfield, CPA and Miller and Miller, AC. She was property manager at Hart House Apartments until two weeks prior to her death. Before being stricken with ALS, she had her own accounting practice.

She partnered with her brother, Will, in their start-up company, Arachnovation. The two won a business plan competition sponsored by West Virginia University in 2006 and won $10,000 towards product development.

She taught youth class at Spencer Baptist Church for years. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church where she helped with the 2-4 year-olds. She was involved in Operation Christmas Child and volunteered at the distribution center in Charlotte, North Carolina. She had a passion for children near and far. She loved helping people and enjoyed seeing them succeed. She was the primary caregiver for her grandmother, Oleta Dye, for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Dale and Oleta Dye, and Stafford and Della Starcher; aunts Patsy Starcher, Cora Mae Starcher, Mary Starcher, Bernice Starcher, Juanita Hefler, and Chloe Dye; and uncles Guy Starcher, Stafford Starcher Jr., Eugene Starcher, Don Starcher, Gene Whited, Roger Deel and Clifford Gandee.

Visitation will be at Taylor Vandale Funeral Home on Saturday, May 17th from 4 to 8 pm. Services will be held on Sunday, May 18th at Faith Baptist Church in Spencer at 2:00 pm with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at Swank Cemetery near Speed, WV.

Margie requested that flower shops provide only red flowers. She wants baskets given to residents of Hart House and Marcap Manor so they will be enjoyed.
