William C. "John" McCune, 77 - Spencer

William C. "John" McCune, 77, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on May 13, 2014 at home.

He was born March 18, 1937 in Roane County, a son of the late Ethel Mae Looney McCune.

He was retired from Eureka Pipeline after 30 years of service, worked in home health care and formerly was a mechanic at De Anderson Pennzoil Station in Spencer. He was a member of the West Virginia National Guard and the Faith Baptist Church.

John is survived by his wife, Carolyn Anderson McCune; two daughters, Brenda Miller of Spencer and Scherry Linger of Johnstown, Ohio; two step-daughters, Brenda Moreno of Cottageville, West Virginia and Beverly Moore of Spencer; a son, Johnny McCune of Centerburg, Ohio; two step-sons, Richard Smith of Spencer and Marshall Smith of Wooster, Ohio; a sister, Jean Crowder of Hartville, Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ervin Gay and Richard McCune.

Service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Faith Baptist Church in Spencer with Pastor Justin Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Ward/Gandee Chapel Cemetery near Spencer. Visiting hours will be on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer.
