GSC THEATRE MEMBERS PERFORM 'THE ANNEX' - Shows April 30th Through May 2nd

(04/29/2014)
GLENVILLE, WV - Rehearsal is underway at Glenville State College for a production of 'The Annex.' The play is an adaptation of the Anne Frank story and is a combined effort of the GSC Theatre Group, the GSC Fine Arts Department, and the Alpha Psi Omega Theatre Honorary.

"This play tells the story of the people, the Franks, the Van Pels, and Fritz Pfeffer in a way that has never been seen before. It includes characters who have never been seen in previous adaptations," said GSC Professor of Communications and Theatre Director Denis Wemm. "Everyone thinks they know the story, but this will be a very new, balanced view of what happened to all the people in hiding," he added.

"This is a completely new play in three acts. The first introduces the families and the situation, the second shows the wear that occurs on the human beings left in storage for two years. After the families are arrested, the story then follows them through the horrors of the concentration camps in act three," said Wemm.

The Annex will be presented in the GSC Fine Arts Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30th through Friday, May 2nd. Admission will be free for Glenville State College students. There will be a charge of $2.00 for other students and $5.00 for general admission.

In addition to the play, Alpha Psi Omega members will also be presenting an exhibit from the Anne Frank Center USA titled 'Anne Frank: A History for Today.' This exhibit will be on display in the GSC Fine Arts Spears Gallery from Monday, April 28th until Friday, May 2nd. Guided tours will be available during the day and prior to as well as after the performances.
