ELSIE GAY HARRIS - Spencer

Elsie Gay Harris, 101, of Spencer, died September 23, 2002 in Miletree Health Care Center in Spencer. She was born in 1901 at Boyd, the daughter of the late Alfred Clinton and Rosie Florence Harper Rhodes.

She has 132 living survivors.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Wolf Valley Baptist Church at Gandeeville.

Surviving, sons, Junior Harris of Spencer and Jack Harris of Gandeeville; daughters, Faye Hamon of Given, Mary Anderson, Myrtle Taylor and Janette Anderson of Gandeeville; brother, Burton Rhodes of Ripley; sisters, Goldie Cox of Gandeeville and Altha Pritt of Charleston; 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 45 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawton; daughter, Dollie West; sons, Pete and Raymond; six brothers, one sister, seven grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, September 16 at 2 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home in Spencer, with Pastor Sinnette Summers officiating. Burial will be in the Ferrell Cemetery, Vicars Ridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
