COUNTRY LANES MAN INJURED DURING ALTERCATION - Man Charged With Battery

An altercation on Country Lanes, Mt. Zion, at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday sent a 20-year-old to Minnie Hamilton Health System for treatment by MHHS ambulance. Calhoun Sheriff Carl Ballengee responded to the disturbance and is investigating the incident, with a juvenile being charged. The man was reportedly struck by an object and could have suffered broken ribs. In a separate incident a Calhoun man is in Central Regional Jail on multiple charges. Brian Lee Smith, 27, has been charged with battery, destruction/injury to property and public intoxication. Smith's bond has been set at $2,500.
