(04/24/2014)
Earth Day will be celebrated by the Pleasant Hill Public Service District with announcements of public water improvements.

The public is welcome to the special event at 10:30 a.m. today at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, according to Dale Cunningham of the PSD.

USDA Rural Development state director Bobby Lewis will recognize the Pleasant Hill PSD for its efforts to provide clean, dependable and affordable drinking water.

The Pleasant Hill Public Service District is receiving a loan of $415,000 and grant of $1,000,000 to partially finance the extension of water service to approximately 42 additional households within the Leaf Bank, Upper Back Fork and Leading Creek areas of Calhoun County.

Funding will also be used to replace 8,200 feet of deteriorating water main that has long created outage problems.
