Sunday hunting on private land only, in Calhoun is something that should happen. Landowners should have the option to do any activity on their own land on Sunday that is already legal the other six days of the week.

Not to mention, Sunday hunting is legal in 44 states and 14 counties in West Virginia. Even our neighbor Clay County has had Sunday hunting since 2001 without any accidents or negatives.

Hard working people may only have one day off a week. It is imperative that these hard-working people be able to enjoy the land they pay taxes on. If you do not own land, do not fret, you would also be able to hunt on Sunday on another landowner or hunt club.

If you do not want to hunt on Sunday, simply do not do so or allow so on your land. However, don't decide what someone else does on their land on their day off. If your neighbor does not like cook-outs, should he be able to tell you not to have one on your own land? Of course not, that would be silly.

People can hunt before or after church. Sunday hunting will not keep people from church. As a matter of fact, all of the top ten church attendance states have Sunday hunting. If you can go out to eat or shop after church, you should be able to hunt after church.

Sunday hunting is safe. People can already target shoot on Sunday. A hiker, farmer, or horseback rider has never been shot in West Virginia. You are more likely to be hit by lightning than injured by a hunter.

Ultimately, if it is your land, then it should be your choice.
