ALLEGED BREAKING AND ENTERING AT CALHOUN MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL AND ARNOLDSBURG ELEMENTARY - Board Has Nine Students Up For Expulsion

(04/19/2014)
Unconfirmed reports say students and former students have broken into Calhoun Middle-High School and Arnoldsburg Elementary School.

Sources told the Hur Herald that five students and one former student broke into Calhoun Middle-High School Saturday.

The Hur Herald has been unable to confirm from any official source that the incidents happened.

Acting Superintendent Dan Metz said, "Calhoun County Schools does not wish to make a statement concerning this story."

The WV State Police in Calhoun do not provide public information regarding crimes in the county.

An email received by the Hur Herald advised, "You can get the scoop on Facebook." The Herald does not rely on Facebook comments, but has chosen to report the unconfirmed incident from other sources.

The individuals were reported to have gone through multiple classrooms, and they also broke into the kitchen and took multiple items, and reportedly messed with the security system within the school.

Two students 18 or older were reportedly taken into custody by the WV State Police.

Sources also say four students allegedly broke into the new Arnoldsburg Elementary school by using a pass code that they were able to steal, and that two of those four students broke into the school on a different date.

Some of the students who allegedly broke into the schools are likely among nine being considered for expulsion during a special meeting of the Calhoun Board of Education next Wednesday.

Calhoun schools, in a policy decision, does not make public the terms or conditions of expulsions, or what situation led to the expulsion, drug or behavioral problems.

While students names were never used, the policy was adopted to protect confidentially, according to former superintendent Roger Propst.
