COLDWATER CREEK FILES FOR BANKRUPTCY - Liquidation Will Begin In May

(04/12/2014)
The women's clothing retailer Coldwater Creek has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in order to "facilitate an orderly wind-down of its operations" after failing to find a potential buyer or a source of capital to help fund turnaround efforts.

A number of regional residents have worked at the outfits Mineral Wells distribution center. The company plans to start sales to liquidate its inventory in early May, before going out of business.

The company opened the Mineral Wells distribution center in 1999. Originally about 600,000 square feet, it was expanded by more than 350,000 square feet in 2006.

It was not learned how many jobs will be lost.
