Bernard Scott Hicks, 89 - Jane Lew

Bernard Scott Hicks, 89, of Jane Lew, died April 4, 2014.

He was born in Calhoun County, WV on October 04, 1924 a son of the late Paris and Ruth Lamb Hicks.

Bernard was retired from the WV Dept. of Highways with over 30 years of service as a truck driver, a member of the Fairview United Methodist Church, a veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving with the US Army.

On March 17, 1950 he married the former Mary L. Myers who survives. They celebrated 64 years of marriage together.

Also surviving are three sons: Danny Hicks and companion, Dorothy, of Hodgesville, Bernard Lynn "Buck" Hicks and wife, Charlotte, of Freemans Creek and Mike Hicks and wife, Tracy, of Philippi; one grandson, Joshua Scott Hicks of Weston and one granddaughter, Melinda Hicks of Freemans Creek; two step grandchildren: Dean and Loryn Harris of Philippi; three brothers: Robert J. "Ike" Hicks and wife, Ruth, of Berlin, Otis Hicks and wife Lucille of Berlin and Sam Hicks of Jane Lew; one sister, Mary Lou Probst and husband Jim of Amherst OH.

He was preceded in death by two sisters: Lucille Carson and Sara Hicks and two brothers: Victor and Paris "Sonny" Hicks Jr.

Funeral and burial at Jane Lew, Fairview Cemetery.
