Margaret Evelyn Houchen 90 - Williamstown

Margaret Evelyn Houchen 90, of Williamstown, formerly of Jackson County, WV. passed away on April 2, 2014 at Marietta, Memorial Hospital.

She was born June 13, 1923 at the home of her parents, the late James and Jeanette Blair Beymer in Lockhart, WV.

She graduated from Gilmore High School, Sandyville, WV. in 1941 and married George Houchen in November of the same year. During WWII she worked as"Rosie the Riveter" for Brewster Aircraft Co, near Philadelphia, Pa. She enjoyed camping, reading, quilting and had traveled to 48 of the 50 United States.

Margaret was a member of Lockhart United Methodist Church and Mary Elizabeth Circle, and attended Wayside United Methodist Church, Vienna and Mary Martha Fellowship. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Sandyville.

She is survived by her son, Stan (Barbara), Statesville, NC, formerly of Washington, W.Va. and daughter, Barbara (Bob) Nestor of Williamstown; and one she loved as a son, Robert (Sherri) Dawson, White Plains, MD; three grandchildren, Stephen (Julie) Houchen, Michael (Stacey) Nestor and Lisa (Rich) Fluharty; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Stanley of Medina, WV.

She was preceded in death by her husband; grandson Timothy; brothers, Russell, Richard and James Edwin; sister, Freda Hopkins.

A memorial will be held at Wayside United Methodist Church at 12:00 noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014 with Reverend Pat Kerr and Reverend Sandy Runnion officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 until time for the service at noon.
