Robust Rainbow and Brown trout stocked in
Calhoun Park ponds for Saturday's Youth Fishing Day

Saturday is Youth Fishing Day at Calhoun Park.

Two ponds will have been stocked with fat and robust rainbow trout, through an initiative by outdoor columnist and former Calhouner Cory Boothe.

"Some of these trout will be brooders and over four pounds," said Boothe.

Two ponds will be stocked, the pond to the left of the park barn and a pond near the campground.

Saturday's fish day allows kids to have the first opportunity to fish.

Adults can help the children, but are asked to not participate in fishing.

Sunday the ponds will be open to adults.

The daily limit for trout is six. Licensed anglers need a trout stamp. Anyone fifteen to 64 need a license. Anyone fourteen or less or 65 or more do not need a license to fish. Licensed anglers are also supposed to carry a photo ID with them.

The "Stock the Pond" Project has been supported by donations from Minnie Hamilton Health System, Holberts Store and others.

Donations for future re-stocking can be made to:
