EXPERIENCING THE OUTDOORS - Youth Fishing Day Saturday At Calhoun Park, Robust Trout Being Stocked

(04/03/2014)
By Cory Boothe

Fat and robust rainbow trout will be swimming the waters of Calhoun Park and available to youth anglers on Saturday, April 5th. These trout were made possible by donations to the Stock The Pond account at Calhoun Banks. Some of these trout will be brooders and over four ponds.

The pond near Rt. 16, the pond off to the left before the barn, and the pond near the campground will all be stocked with trout. Saturday will be for kids to have the first opportunity to fish. Sunday will see the ponds open to adults. Please respect the wish that Saturday be for kids only. Adults may help the children, but please do not participate in fishing if you are an adult.

The daily limit for trout is six. Licensed anglers need a trout stamp. Anyone fifteen to 64 need a license. Anyone fourteen or less or 65 or more do not need a license to fish. Licensed anglers are also supposed to carry a photo id with them.

This is a wonderful opportunity made possible by donations. A special thanks goes to Minnie Hamilton Health Systems and Holbert's Store along with anyone else who donated. For future stockings to continue, please donate to the 'Stock the Pond Fund'
