Calhoun-Gilmer Career Center recently sent the largest contingent of students yet to the West Virginia Skills USA at Putnam Career and Technical Center.

Twenty-six competitors and delegates, won at the local level and earned the right to compete in many different job skills competitions, including Carpentry, Automotive, Welding, Team Fabrication, and Medical terminology.

Students winning gold medals and will be competing in the Skills USA National Leadership Conference in Kansas City, MO, June 2014 are Nathan Andrews Commercial Baking, Justin Mowrey Computer Maintenance Repair, and Shelby Wine Technical Computer Applications.

Other medal recipients were Jacob Frashure Computer Maintenance Repair Bronze, and Melody Lowther Commercial Baking, Bronze.

In addition to medalists Taylor Ashley was voted WV State Vice President Northern Region.
