Delbert Junior Rhodes, 81 - Spencer

Delbert Junior Rhodes, 81, of Spencer WV, died March 30, 2014, at his home.

He was born March 8, 1933, in Harper District, Roane County, a son of the late Delbert and Edith A. West Rhodes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Rhodes; and a brother, Ray Rhodes.

Mr. Rhodes was a farmer, former well tender, carpenter and handyman. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dessie M. Pursley Rhodes, whom he married January 31, 1953; two daughters, Judith Ann Stalnaker of Glenville and Michelle "Shelly" Flesher of Finksburg, MD; four sisters, Faye Randolph of Ripley, Altha Randolph of Gandeeville, Sharon Fields of Spencer and Betty Brent of Vienna; one sister-in-law, Ruth Rhodes of Gandeeville; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.

Burial will be at a later date. (Hunt Cemetery, Vicars Ridge, Roane County)
