Larry O'Neal Powell, 64 - Akron, Ohio

Larry O'Neal Powell, 64, of Akron, was born on January 29, 1950 in Calhoun, son of Estel and Hagan Powell. He passed away suddenly on March 8, 2014.

A long-time resident of Akron, he was employed by Summa Health System, Akron City campus for 46 years. He was involved in Local 684 for 40 years and president of Local 684 for at least 35 years.

He enjoyed spending time at Middle Run Hunt Club in West Virginia with his family and friends. He also loved being outdoors, working and playing.

He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Bobbie; sons, Larry "Neal" Powell (Eva) and Brad Powell (Rachel); brothers, Richard, Gary (Bev), and Lennis "Terry" Powell; sisters, Jean (Loyd) Cole and Janet Savich; granddaughters, April and Amy Baker; grandsons, Zac Powell; great-granddaughter, Riley Jackson; great-grandsons, Joey Ortega and Jayden Gotto; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Erma Lee and Rex Houchin; sister-in-law, Kathy Powell; brother-in-law, Bud Savich; and grandson, Andrew O'Neal Powell.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Akron, with interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
