Dorma Lea Keen, 80 - Newton

Dorma Lea Keen, 80, of Newton, died Tuesday, February 25, 2014, in the Miletree Center, Spencer, after an extended illness.

She was born April 16, 1933, at Clio, a daughter of the late James Weaver and Della Cornelia Abbott Armstead.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Milton Keen in 1988; four brothers, Clyde, Hurst, Carl and John Armstead; three sisters, Dorothy Carpenter, Beulah Dye and Launa King.

Mrs. Keen was a homemaker and mother. She was a Christian and a member of the Henry's Fork Baptist Church, Tariff. Also, she was a lifelong resident of Roane County and enjoyed flower gardening.

Survivors include her son, Dewane M. Keen of Newton; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Helmick Cemetery, Newton, with the Rev. Richard Webb officiating. There will be no visitation.

John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, is in charge of arrangements.
