| The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office says a man shot himself during a fight with police when they executed a domestic petition at his home.
Rich Dean Wilcox, 65, of Dunbar, died from the gunshot, Police saying they chased Wilcox upstairs and began struggling with him, at which time he shot himself with his own weapon during the fight.
Dunbar Police served a domestic violence petition on Wilcox earlier in the day, a petition that required him to leave the residence.
Wilcox met officers at the door, then locked the door and went back inside. Family members gave officers a key to the house, telling them the man had a gun.
Police say they chased Wilcox upstairs and began struggling with him, at which time he shot himself.
