CALHOUN FEA GOES FOR THE GOLD

During the West Virginia FEA (Future Educators Association) State Competition, 8 of Calhoun's finest students attended the competiion on February 11-12th at Stonewall Jackson Resort.

National FEA Director, Dan Brown gave encouraging remarks for students and teachers. Erin Sponaugle, WV teacher of the year was the special guest speaker of the opening session.

The members who attended include Jared Fitzwater, Kelsey Jett, Brooklyn Smith, Cassi Dobbins, Bailie Cain Rebbicca Newlon, , Chlo-ey Boggs, and Erica Jones.

When the competitors weren't competing, they attended mandatory meetings on how to improve their teaching methods.

During the awards ceremony, four Calhoun students were awarded medals. Erica Jones received 2nd in both Leadership Award and the Essay Competition. Brooklyn Smith got 1st place in Technology video and 3d place in Job Application. Bailie Cain received 1st place in FEA Moment and 1st in Technology Video. Jared Fitzwater received 1st place in Public Speaking, 2nd place in Impromptu Speaking, and 1st place in Technology Video. Kelsey Jett competed in the Lesson Planning and Delivery competition.

All students placing 1st or 2nd at the state level will be attending the National FEA Competition at Minnesota on April 10-12. Thus, Bailie, Jared, Erica, and Brooklyn will attend and compete in Nationals.
