Calhoun County - One of the mottos of the WVU Extension Service is “People in your community; knowledge at your doorstep.” With the start of 2014, the WVU Extension Service – Calhoun County office has been preparing a schedule of various programs to offer to the Calhoun County community.

Thursday they will kick-off the start of “The Extension Road Show.”

“The Extension Road Show,” will include a series of educational topics to be offered once a month in both Grantsville and Arnoldsburg. For February, the topics include – The Couponing Craze and Living on a Budget. The two classes will be offered in the commons of the new Arnoldsburg Elementary School starting at 9:30 a.m. on February 20. They will be offered that same afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist Church in Grantsville. People are asked to not leave between the programs.

The Couponing Craze will be presented by Latasha White of Glenville. White is familiar with couponing due to her experience in retail and her own personal interest in saving money. She has previously provided this program that looks at the various types coupons, the concept of combining them, and the best ways to acquire coupons in Gilmer County. It received rave reviews.

Living on a Budget will follow. This program will look at reasons to budget, steps to take when developing a budget, and a series of “dos and don’ts” for money management.

As previously stated, this is just the first in “The Extension Road Show,” series for 2014! Beginning in March, the “Road Show” will take place the fourth Wednesday of each month at the two locations at the listed times! Some topics to look forward to include: Straw Bale Gardening, Menu Planning, Family Meal Time, Entrepreneurship, Online Sales Opportunities, and much, much more.
