Freda Fern (Marple) Anderson, 78 - Reedy

Freda Fern (Marple) Anderson, 78 of Reedy, Wirt County was greeted by her husband as she passed into the arms of her Savior on February, 11, 2014 at the Greenbrier Manor in Lewisburg, WV.

She was born March 12, 1935 in Spencer, WV. She was the oldest of 5 children of the late Victor and Geraldine Taylor Marple.

Freda attended Spencer High School. She worked at Kellwood Factory Outlet Store, Gordon Memorial Hospital and NI Industries in Spencer. She was a devoted wife and a homemaker. Freda enjoyed crocheting afghans, making quilts and working with plastic canvas. She loved hummingbirds and had a large collection of them. She had been active in the Wirt County Seniors and was a member of the Two Runs Baptist Church, Palestine.

She is survived by her three children, Rev. James L. and Susan Anderson, Jr of Frankford WV, Mary Jo and Jeff Slater of Belpre, OH and Larry D and Cindy Anderson of Ironton, OH. Two sisters, Jessie (Bill) Whited of Parkersburg, and Margaret (Kenneth) Courtney of Palestine; two brothers Victor Marple, Jr of Spencer, and Allen (Julie) Marple of Ripley; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Freda was preceded in death by her husband Rev. James L. Anderson of 57 years, and her sister-in-law Carol Marple.

The family would like to thank the Wirt County Committee on Aging, Gina Haney- Caregiver, Ravenswood Care Center, Greenbrier Manor and her family, friends and neighbors during her final stages of Alzheimer's.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with her son Rev. James L. Anderson, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Hodam Cemetery, Spencer. Friends may call at the funeral home two hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Girl Scout Troop 1036.
