POLICE SHOOT LOGAN MAN - West Virginia State Police have identified the man who died in an afternoon shooting as Curley Spry of Harts Creek.

Police said after the initial 911 call from Spry's wife indicated that Spry had a gun and was a threat to the family. After entering the home, they say Spry pointed a gun at troopers. That's when investigators say a trooper fired at Spry.

According to Spry's wife, her husband had not been taking prescribed medication in the days leading up to today's incident and that he was struggling with the recent death of his mother.

LARGE CACHE GUNS FOUND DURING MURDER INVESTIGATION - Investigators have found more than 50 guns in the home of a Barboursville man accused of fatally shooting two unsuspecting people.

A search warrant affidavit shows the 54 firearms included 17 handguns and a variety of shotguns, rifles, muzzleloaders and ammo.

Rodney Bruce Black faces two counts of first-degree murder. He is charged with fatally shooting 60-year-old Garrick Hopkins from the Milton area and 61-year-old Carl Hopkins Jr. of Oak Hill on Saturday.

Original Story: MAN KILLS TWO MEN CLAIMING INTRUSION - Cabell Sheriff Tom McComas says Barboursville resident, Rodney Black, 63, called police Saturday and said two men were breaking into his shed, and he shot them to death with a rifle with a scope, reportedly never leaving the house.

Police say the shed was not on Black's property and the men had the legal right to be there.

He has been charged with the murder of the two men.

A search warrant for the house revealed a large stockpile of guns and ammo.

The victims are identified as Garrick Hopkins , 60, of Milton WV area and Carl Hopkins Jr., 61, of Oak Hill WV. The two men are brothers. Garrick Hopkins recently purchased a lot adjacent Black's property. He took his brother Carl Hopkins to the newly purchased lot to show him the property. Deputies say Garrick Hopkins was planning to build a new home on the newly purchased piece of land. Deputies are saying there were no footprints indicating that the shooter left his home and approached the men.

ST. ALBANS WOMAN ROBBED AND MURDERED - St. Albans police say two people have been arrested and face theft-related charges in connection with the death investigation of a woman who was found stabbed to death in her home.

Timonthy P. Shafer, 28, of St. Albans and Megan Hughes, 27, of St. Albans have been charged.

Shafer is being charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, according to a news release and Hughes is charged with transferring and receiving stolen property.

Police said evidence of the thefts surfaced while police were conducting an investigation into the death of Nancy Lynch.

Police said during the investigation it was discovered that jewelry had been stolen from Lynch's home. The jewelry was found in a local pawn shop. Police said Hughes pawned the jewelry.

Lynch owned two automobiles, and they were not at her residence when her body was discovered.

The vehicles were reported stolen, and one of the cars, a 2008 Toyota Camry, was recovered early Wednesday morning in Charleston by police.

Police said Shafer was driving the car. Hughes, who is in a romantic relationship with Shafer, was accompanying him, police said.

The second vehicle was found in the Sissonville area.

Police said the charges against Hughes are related to the jewelry. Shafer's charges are related to the stolen vehicle.

The investigation into the death continues.

PLEASANTS TEEN SHOT BY STRAY BULLET - A Pleasants County teenager is fighting for her life following what police are saying is an accidental shooting.

The shooting happened early Wednesday night at Cloverdale Estates.

State Police on scene say a person was cleaning his pistol inside his home when it accidentally discharged.

The bullet traveled through the wall in his home and into a neighbor's home, hitting a fifteen year old girl in the head.

She was flown by helicopter to Ruby Memorial in Morgantown.

ELDERLY MAN HOLDS-UP MARATHON - Police are searching for an elderly man who held up the Marathon Gas Station in Huntington with a gun. They said the suspect walked into the store with a gun and demanded cash.

HUNTINGTON MAN STABBED - A 23-year-old Huntington man was recovering in the hospital Wednesday night, after being stabbed in the neck.

Dispatchers said the man who stabbed him took off running, but police believe they know who he is.
