1. Sunday hunting is for private land only and only with written permission. If you do not want to hunt on Sunday, you simply choose not to do so or allow so on your own land.

2. Calhoun's neighbor Clay County, along with thirteen other counties in West Virginia, have had Sunday hunting since 2001 without any negatives.

3. According to Tom Fox, Calhoun's game warden from 1971 to 2009, a nonhunter has never been shot by a hunter in Calhoun County. Thirty-eight plus years of farmers, hikers, and landowners being safe from hunters is a fact.

4. Sunday hunting would add three days to spring turkey hunting and thirteen days in the fall hunting seasons. It would only add one day to deer rifle season and zero days to muzzleloader or doe seasons. So Sunday huting only adds one day for hunting deer with a high-powered rifle.

5. Target shooting is already legal on Sunday and laws are in place that no firearm can be discharged within 500 feet of a church.

6. Sunday hunting was legal in 2001. The entire state had 264 arrests for trespassing during that year, only four of which occurred on Sunday. as a percentage, that would be under two percent.

7. Rural economies would benefit from hunters having two days a weekend to hunt. Otherwise, we are missing out on revenue from people that refuse to come to Calhoun to hunt for one day a weekend. The total economic input of allowing Sunday hunting in the state is estimated at over one-hundred and fifty five million dollars according to an economic impact study by the National Shooting Sports Foundation. sundayhunting.org

8. It is wrong to tell a landowner who pays taxes what he or she cannot do after church on their own land.

9. Sunday hunting does not change harvest limits and has been proven to not have any negative effects in the forty-three states where it is permitted.

10. The only blue laws left in West Virginia are hunting on Sunday and purchasing liquor. Gambling, alcohol sales after one o'clock, and full nudity bars are all legal on Sunday, but taking your child hunting on your own land is not.
