OFFICIALS SEIZE 200 ANIMALS FROM WEST UNION HOUSE

Nearly 200 animals were seize by authorities Friday from a West Union, Doddridge County residence.

Officials from the Doddridge County Sheriff's Department, the West Union Police Department, the Harrison County Sheriff's Department and Harrison County Animal Control executed a search warrant at the residence.

Officials found and seized 184 animals: 22 dogs, 106 cats, 1 ferret, and 55 birds, according to the Doddridge County Sheriff's Department.

Officials said they also found two dead cats.

The animals were living in fecal matter, most in cages.

The owner of the house and animals, an elderly woman, cooperated with authorities, but charges are pending.

The animals have been taken to animal shelters.
