Cecil Eugene Rhodes, 81 - Spencer

Cecil Eugene Rhodes, 81, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Miletree Center in Spencer.

He was born August 3, 1932 in Roane County, a son of the late Cecil Rector and Wavie Doll Phillips Rhodes. He was a law enforcement officer with the Spencer Police Department and Roane County Sheriffs Department and retired as a dispatcher. Eugene was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Mitch Nichols and Lisa and Rodney Kyer, all of Spencer; three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Eugene and Ashley Rhodes, Anthony and Pauletta Rodes, and Danny Ray and the late Naomi Rhodes, all of Spencer; two sisters, Hazel Walbrown of Florida and Shirley McCune of Spencer; a brother, Terry Allen Rhodes of West Virginia; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and daughter-in-law, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Marie Abbott Rhodes; and his siblings, Etta Jane Walbrown, William Clair Rhodes, and Dorcas Ann Perrine.

There will be no visitation or service as Eugene's wishes were to be cremated.

Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer is in charge of the arrangements.
