George Lawrence Bland, 93, of Grantsville, West Virginia died September 12, 2002 at Minnie
Hamilton Health Care Center, Grantsville, following a long illness.
Born March 9, 1909 in Calhoun County, he was a retired construction worker and farmer and
was a member of the Enon Baptist Church at Grantsville. He was widely known for his wood
whittling abilities and was an accomplished gardener.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Lillian Fowler Bland and three sons and their wives, Donald
Nelson and Virginia Bland of Libby, Montana, James L. and Jeanie Bland of Elizabeth, West
Virginia and David and Sharon Bland of Pasadena, Maryland; eight grandchildren and four
great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Laura Johnson Bland; three brothers and
two sisters. |
