Josephine Westfall, 91 - Spencer

Josephine Westfall, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at the age of 91 at the Care Haven of Pleasants after a brief illness.

She was born at Harmony, West Virginia on March 10, 1922 a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Florence Pence Fields and was the wife of the late Dale Westfall. She attended the Harmony Baptist and Mt. Herman Churches, was a member of the Roane General Hospital Auxiliary and retired from the Spencer State Hospital. Josephine enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, crafts, and her animals.

She is survived by two sons, Bobby (Jean) Westfall of St. Albans, West Virginia and Richard (Tina) of St. Marys, West Virginia; three daughters, Kathryn (Larry) Westfall of Edgewater, Florida, Garnet (Bob) Dye of Bridgeport, West Virginia, and Doris (Ralph) Hannah of Pearisburg, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was preceded in death by seven brothers, Elmer, Harry, Buddy, John, Fred, Leo, and Brown Fields; and three sisters, Ruth Jones, Ruble Baker, and Sybil Young.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, with Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Eventide Cemetery in Spencer. Visiting will be Monday for two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
