The weather prognosticators say that cold weather is coming to the Creston area, the likes of which haven't been seen here for some time. Last week's cold and snow caused several water pipes to change phase and then break. The high priest of the Global Warming Religion always gets scarce when normal weather patterns happen and the taxpayers continue to fund scams to "make sure the earth doesn't catch on fire". However, solar activity is low & it is expected that cold weather will be the norm, perhaps for decades. Back in 1912 a scientific expedition sailed to Antarctica and a ship full of global warming promoters decided to repeat the venture to show "how much the planet has warmed". They got stuck in the ice and now a communist Chinese icebreaker is also stuck. The American taxpayers are now sending a rescue boat and some of the green weenies actually took offense when folks made jokes about the "lack of luck" of the global warming nuts. To fight "global warming" light bulbs have been banned and now one is supposed to buy China made mercury vapor lamps since such are not allowed to be made in America.

Not so long back W. Va. had a vibrant light bulb manufacturing facility but, alas, no more. The census said W. Va. lost population again. This writer remembers when W. Va. had 6 (six) members in the U. S. House of Representatives. Now there are 3 and it is felt that next census it will go to two (2). In the face of such numbers, the ruling oligarchy continues to trump "look how well we are doing; we're looking out for W. Va."

The Midnight Supply Corp has been busy in the Burning Springs sector. Seems they removed two [good] radiators from Federation Class A starships and a freezer that was sitting in the yard of an occupied house.

Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church and served Holy Communion.

In spite of the snow and slippery roads a good crowd was on hand January 2 for the Farm Bureau & Forestry dinner and meeting with local legislators. David McKinley, First District Congressman was present and gave a good talk. He noted that the "big city" representatives have no idea how the rest of the nation lives and seems only interested in "getting more goodies" for those in their districts. Mr. & Mrs. Gary Jones, Mr. & Mrs. Bill McFee & Mr. & Mrs. Alvin Engelke represented Wirt County. Forced pooling, meth labs and common core, the Bill Ayers school indoctrination program were among the items mentioned by the legislators.

The W. Va. Farm Bureau Mobile Ag Lab will be at the Arnoldsburg school the week of January 13 - 17 with an open house on the 13th from 4 to 5 P. M. Farm Bureau members and those interested in agriculture should stop by to see educational tool in large part the work of Helen Hardman.

It was reported that 18,000 W. Va. residents who thought that they had signed up for Obamacare had their medical and personal financial data lost leaving them in limbo & subject to identity theft as the site is not at all secure. In one county court house it was noted that most of the employees qualified for Medicaid, the welfare program that is paid for by those taxpayers still working. It was noted that Medicaid can take your property. Since Marxists do not believe in the private ownership of property such will likely be the case. Some folks over at Spencer said that all the plans on the website were too high and that they were not going to get insurance. The Big Eared One's going after the Little Sisters of the Poor because they opposed abortion shows just how arrogant the federal government has become. Some years ago there was a discussion about worshiping Cesar as opposed to worshiping the true God. Such likely still applies.

The Utica/Point Pleasant well permitted by Triad Hunter near the mouth of Allen's Run of Middle Island Creek just a little west of Middleboure has stirred up lots of interest. The wettest reported Marcellus well is Chesapeake's Kirk Hadley well near Sancho, just a little south of the Utica location.

Jim Bush has been on the puny list. Among other things he had a "flu" shot and a pneumonia shot and within a week came down with the influenza.

The national news noted that the parks in Washington Dee Cee have a deer population of 70/square mile which was determined to be way too high. They are having marksmen take out the venison to cut the population in half. Years ago the DNR said that the population in the Creston area was 160/square mile. It's no wonder alfalfa cannot be grown, gardens not fenced are consumed, fruit trees are destroyed, etc.

The Mercedes that was left along the road at the foot of the Leason Hill is now gone. While it had West Virginia tags, it was noted that there was no inspection sticker.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude fell to $91.46/bbl. with drip fetching $71.75, Marcellus & Utica light $83.21 and medium $92.46/bbl.

One Wood County farmer noted that because of he wet fall he has been unable to pick his soya beans and corn & that the last time he tried the combine was buried so deep that he didn't think his big tractor could pull it out.
