| Bernard Eugene Hickman, 54, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013. He was born August 26, 1959 in Spencer, a son of the late William T. and Ollie Mae Chapman Hickman. He was formerly employed by Century Aluminum and Armacell and was currently employed as a well-tender for United Petro. But his greatest passion was his seven children. Bernard is survived by his wife, Lisa Carper Hickman; seven children, Thomas, William Dylan, Christopher, Clara, Kaitlyn, Alexis, and Haylie Hickman, all at home; three sisters, Ann (Doug) Sacchi of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Betty (Jerry) Watson of Spencer, and Mary Gandee of Point Pleasant, West Virginia; two brothers, Robert (Sue) Hickman of Spencer and Ronald Hickman of Point Pleasant; a sister-in-law, Freda Hickman of Spencer; three nieces and nephews, Brian (Barbara) Hickman and Jennifer (Robert) Lawrence, all of Spencer, and Michelle (Kevin) Gates of Parkersburg; and three great-nephews, Cory and William Gates and Logan Hickman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia D. Hickman; a brother, Roger W. Hickman; and a niece, Leah N. Hickman. Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with Pastor Shannon Skeen officiating. Burial will follow in the Eventide Cemetery in Spencer. Visiting will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
