Stella Brannon Chenoweth, 99 - Parkersburg

Stella Brannon Chenoweth, 99, died Dec. 28, 2013, at the Wyngate Senior Living Community.

She was born May 13, 1914, at Orma W.Va., the daughter of Weaver H. and Ollie Spencer Brannon.

She retired from the Wood County Board of Education after having taught 35 years as an elementary teacher in Calhoun and Wood counties. She was a member of local state and national teacher's organizations and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an honorary teacher's organization. She was also a 50-year plus member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, J. Wesley Chenoweth, on March 20, 2008; an infant daughter; two brothers, Ottice and Selden Brannon; and three sisters, Ivah Campbell, Mae Offutt and Elva Poling Kerby.

She was the last surviving member of her family. She is survived by two sons, John Roger and wife, Marilyn, of Houston, Texas, and Frederick Allan of Mineral Wells; one granddaughter, Jane Ann Hudok of Gibsonia, Pa.; three grandsons, John Chenoweth of Orlando, Fla., and Mark and Eric Chenoweth of Houston, Texas; two great-granddaughters, Kaitlin and Sloane Hudok; four great-grandsons, Joseph, Sam, Jack and Jake Chenoweth; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wyngate Senior Living Community and Houscalls Hospice for all of their care and support.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Pam Shuman officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until time of service.
