A man died following an ATV crash in Roane County, Friday afternoon in the Otto-Linden area.

Dead is Alfred Slack, 76, from Kanawha County, according to the Roane Co. Sheriffs Department.

Slack's hunting partner told deputies they were checking out tree stands and that they split around noon.

A member of the party called the sheriff's office about 5:00 p.m. after finding Slack's body.

Deputies said it appears Slack was driving up a hill, spun out and went backwards.

They said the ATV pinned him up against a tree. He was dead when officers arrived.
