WV KNIFE AND GUN CLUB - Man's Throat Slashed At Store, 10-Year-Old Girl Dies By 9-Year-Old Boy Target Practicing

MINGO STABBING - A fight early Saturday morning in Mingo County ended with David Manns arrested and Joseph Harmon in the hospital in critical condition.

Police say Manns stabbed Harmon in the neck following an altercation at the Miner Mart in Taylorville, with Harmon suffering an 8-inch slash from his throat to the base of his neck.

Manns was arrested by West Virginia State Police on a malicious wounding charge.

LOGAN ROBBERY - A man Michael Ray Hughes, 31, was arrested for armed robbery in Logan County.

According to a release from the West Virginia State Police, Hughes robbed Janet's Park and Eat Restaurant in Mount Gay.

When an officer responded to the call, he was told that Hughes committed the robbery and that Hughes and another man left the scene in a Chevrolet Cavalier.

The Cavalier was stopped a short distance from the restaurant.

Hughes is charged with armed robbery. Roy Belcher is charged with being an accessory after the fact.

GIRL SHOT DURING TARGET PRACTICE - A ten-year-old girl at Quick was accidentally shot by a 9-year-old boy during target practice with a shotgun.

She died later from wounds to her chest and arm at CAMC.

It happened about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when the girl and a nine-year-old boy were practicing with a shotgun near a creek.

LOGAN HOME INVASION - State Police are investigating a home invasion in which a suspect was shot, and another man was arrested in Logan County.

Police say it happened just after 7 a.m. Saturday when two male suspects, Jimmy Walker and Justin Allen Blair, broke into the home.

The home owners were out of town.

Troopers say Billy Hall, a family member who lives nearby, noticed an alarm going off at the resident.

Hall went to the house armed with a handgun, spotting Walker and Blair, telling them to put their hands in the air, and Hall shot Walker.

Troopers said Hall held both Walker and Blair at gunpoint until State Troopers arrived.

Walker was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition.

Blair was arrested and put into a cruiser, but then kicked the rear window out and ran into the woods.

Troopers received a tip that Blair was hiding at a residence, and arrested him around 12 p.m.

Police are saying the shooting is considered justified and no charges are expected to be filed against Hall.

LINCOLN HOME INVASION - An alleged home invasion Sunday in Lincoln County has led to arrests.

The victim said a masked man came into his house, held him at gunpoint and stole his wallet. He was not injured.

Police said they located two suspicious people. A female inside the car, Amanda May was arrested, and is was charged as an accessory and for giving false information to police.

The male suspect, Jeffery Adkins, took off on foot. Police have warrants for burglary, armed robbery and brandishing.
